Gearbox Software announced the highly anticipated Borderlands 3 during the recent PAX East gaming focused event. The game developer launched a short video teaser for Borderlands 3 which revealed lots of cool features such as guns with legs! On the downside of things, there was one piece of information that Gearbox Software didn’t reveal and that is the official launch date of Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3 Leaked Launch Date
Even though Gearbox Software didn’t want to announce the official launch date for Borderlands 3, we got lucky and the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account posted the following tweet: “Mayhem is coming September 13th”.
The interesting thing about this tweet is that it doesn’t look like Gearbox Software wanted to post it and the reason why we are saying this is because the Borderlands 3 Twitter account was deleted soon after the tweet was posted.
Epic Store Exclusivity
Another important piece of information that was leaked at the same time that Borderlands 3’s release date was announced is that the game will be available only on the Epic Store. This is breaking news because everyone expected Borderlands 3 to be available on Steam but it doesn’t look like this is going to be the case.
Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, has been heavily investing in exclusive games in order to bring more and more PC players to its Epic Store. The first deal that Epic Games made was with developer Deep Silver in order to bring Metro Exodus on the Epic Store and right after that, Epic Games paid Ubisoft to not release Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on Steam.
In case some of you might still be wondering if the launch date and Epic Store exclusivity leaks are real, then you should know that neither Gearbox Software nor 2K Games want to confirm or deny the launch date. This leads us to believe that Borderlands 3 is indeed going to launch on September 13th as an exclusive Epic Store title.
