Android’s Custom ROM are a bit similar to iOS jailbreak features. A while ago CyanogenMod was the most popular one in the Android community, but things change quickly and now the Lineage OS is more used. However, there are some disadvantages. Many devices do not have support for it since the developers have a hard time “cracking” them. And one good example is Samsung. This brand is very secretive and there are no public firmware related details. This means that it is harder to find all the information needed for developers in order to make Custom ROMs available for more devices. However, this time Samsung lost the battle.
Lineage OS 14.1 is now supporting Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus
Finally, Lineage OS 14.1 is ready to become available for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Until now, their owners were forced to use the Exynos variant, but that no longer is the case. Right now, all we know comes from an XDA developer, so we might get some additional details in the future.
There is an unofficial version available for Lineage OS 14.1 and it is available specifically for the Exynos version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. This is great news for S8 and S8 Plus owners, since usually the Exynos versions of the Samsung devices are not able to get any custom ROMs. The Samsung Galaxy S6 series and the Samsung Galaxy S7 series have officially received the Lineage OS.
Download Lineage OS 14.1
We should warn you that since it is an unofficial version, it is not stable enough. If you are a regular user, you might want to wait a bit more and now download it. However, this is the download link for Lineage OS 14.1.
