If you’re a tech enthusiast with a penchant for smartphones in particular, then you’re already more than familiar with the OnePlus 5. But if you’re not, allow us to fill you in real quick. The OnePlus 5 is a smartphone that came out three months ago after more months of bubbling anticipation. It is produced by Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus and it follows in the footsteps of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T.
In case you’re wondering what happened to the OnePlus 4, it didn’t tank or blow up or anything of the sort. The number four is highly unlucky in China, so the company decided to skip it in the naming of their then-future phone altogether. It’s pure superstition, but it seemingly did some good because now the OnePlus 5 is one of the most popular smartphones of 2017.
On September 19th OnePlus is hosting a special event in Paris. And even though the company hasn’t announced what it will reveal, it surely won’t be the OnePlus 6 or anything of the sort because OnePlus 5 has been around for just a little over three months. Instead, what we think will happen is OnePlus will release a special edition of the OnePlus 5.
We already know via TechAdvisor that OnePlus teamed up with revolutionary French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. So what will be revealed on September 19th? Well, a special edition of the OnePlus 5 designed by Castelbajac is the most likely answer. If it’s going to be something else we will all be very surprised. Also, let’s note for a second that this is happening at the same time as Apple will roll out iOS 11. Very sneaky, OnePlus, very sneaky indeed!
