Google Claims Nexus 5X Has AMOLED Display

Although Google is one of the biggest tech companies in the world at this moment, it is also one that doesn’t enjoy blowing its own horn. This is why the official android.com listing for the Nexus 5X was all the more baffling for us. For those of you unfamiliar with Google’s Nexus line of smart devices, it is made up of various smartphones and other similar devices and it represents Google’s first attempt at this field.

Over time, Google’s Nexus line has been overshadowed tremendously by its more popular younger sibling, the Pixel line. But still, there are a lot of people out there that love Nexus devices for their accessibility, simplicity and, most importantly, the ease with which they can be paired up with custom Android ROMs to make something unique and beautiful. Still, the android.com entry for the Nexus 5X oversold the device a little bit too much. Keep reading to find out what we’re talking about.

Nexus 5X – AMOLED or No AMOLED?

The particular entry we’re talking about lists the top features of Nexus 5X devices. It states that Nexus 5X devices have polycarbonate housing, up to 32GB in storage, a 12.3MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, 20 hour battery power and 5.2-inch AMOLED display. Wait for a second, back that up. Nexus 5X, AMOLED display? Google must be into wishful thinking, because as nice of a smartphone as the Nexus 5X is, it does not have AMOLED technology.

The Nexus 5X has in fact an IPS display, which isn’t bad, it’s just not AMOLED. However, the fact remains that this entry is erroneous and must be fixed. It’s not fair to mislead people this way, even though the device itself is not of poor quality. But when people want to buy a new phone, they need to be informed correctly.
