Do not update Xiaomi Mi A3 to the latest software version,the update could ruin the dual-SIM functionality

Xiaomi does not seem to be able to develop the update system for the models in the Android One range. Each model in the Mi A range so far has received at some point an update that has broken a certain functionality. In the case of the Xiaomi Mi A3, the latest model with Android One, the Chinese manufacturer delivered to international models an update dedicated to the Mexican market, which does not include dual-SIM functionality.

Xiaomi Mi A3 has received an update with problems

If you have a Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphone and receive a software update these days, it would be a good idea not to install it immediately until the situation is resolved. Users who have managed to install this software package, which requires a 1.4 GB download, have noticed some serious issues that affect the functionality of the phone.

At the hardware level, the SIM-2 slot can no longer be used. The reason is that the Xiaomi Mi A3 phones in Mexico, for which the update was actually developed. These are mainly the models from the Telcel operator. Consequently, the phones on which the update to software version v11.0.3.0.QFQMXTC is applied are automatically set to Spanish when they restart.

If you receive an update that notes the version as “v11.0.3.0.QFQMIXM”, you may be safe. This should be the correct version for the international version of the phone. However, it is still unclear whether or not this update has been officially released. The worst affected are those who really used the dual-SIM functionality and who can only use one of the two cards.

Xiaomi also provided statements following this situation:

“We are aware of the problem that a software update causes on some Mi A3 devices. After internal investigations, we identified the technical issue that sent the update that was not dedicated to users in India. This problem has been solved on our part, and the technical teams are working on a solution to solve the problems caused, which will be launched soon. “
