0

Android 8.0 Oreo has finally been released and some Android users can already get their hands on this dessert update. We say some, because Oreo is not yet available for most phones, and for now you can find it on Google devices like Google Pixel and Nexus. However, many other Android users will receive it by the end of the year.

Android 8.0 Oreo comes with some great new features that are meant to improve your user experience and enhance the performance of your phone. Let’s take a look at them.

Customizable notifications

Android Oreo will allow you to preview unread notifications. When you get a new notification a dot will appear over the app’s icon and if you long press it you will be able to read your notification.

Autofill

Many users wanted a feature like this. Used with a password manager, Autofill will complete all your autofill and login details for you whenever you want to sign in an app.

The new picture-in-picture mode

This is definitely the most popular Android Oreo feature. With picture-in-picture mode you will be able to multitask like never before. This feature will allow you to shrink a video in a small window and let it play in a corner while you are using any other apps. You can use the picture-in-picture mode with some apps like YouTube Red and Google Chrome.

In order to use it, you will need to play a video in full screen and then tap the home button. Tapping one time will resize the window and you can move it on your screen. If you want to turn it off you can. Open Settings > Apps and Notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Picture-in-picture and disable it for all apps.
