Almost since the launch of the first variant, the manufacturer Motorola RAZR has confirmed the preparation of a successor, updated with 5G technology.
Contrary to expectations, the first wave of folding phones with flap design was not a resounding success, the RAZR 2019 model only proving that the RAZR format introduced in 2004 is still current and worth continuing.
Motorola RAZR 5G, a successor with optimized design
Appearing, for now, in the form of unofficial renderings, the new Motorola RAZR 2020 (RAZR 5G / Odyssey) seems to use about the same hinge design and appears largely unchanged, if we look at it with an enlarged screen. Instead, in the folded mode, the secondary screen seems to have a more generous display area, obtained by narrowing the side frame.
The main camera trim seems to be more prominent than the current model, which suggests the use of more powerful lenses and / or high-resolution optical sensor.
According to the renderings provided, the new Motorola RAZR 5G supports use with both the screen fully extended and partially tilted at an angle of about 100 °, for example, using the bottom to scroll and key while reading the messages played at the top. Not really an innovation, this feature is already found in the Galaxy Z Flip series of phones.
Although it doesn’t look very good in the images, the main screen also looks bigger and with a design closer to the edge-to-edge concept, Motorola managing to thin the frame left on the side more.
On the side of the case can be seen a single physical button, possibly a fingerprint sensor.
Motorola RAZR 5G – Unofficial Specifications
According to recent revelations, Motorola is basing the new smartphone on the Snapdragon 765 chipset, helped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Although it has two screens and includes 5G connectivity, the phone would be supported with a battery of only 2845 mAh, Motorola instead promoting the advantage of fast charging technology. The main camera is a 48MP model with sensor provided by Samsung. Instead, above the cropped screen we will find a 20MP front camera, useful for selfie photos and video calls.
Motorola will deliver the new RAZR 5G in the second half of this year, equipped with the Android 10 version.
