The OnePlus 5 launched successfully a few weeks ago, fulfilling the expectations of many and putting an end to the crazed rumors and speculation. Now that the smartphone finally launched, comparisons between it and other comparable devices are also shaping up. Today we’re having a look at the OnePlus 5 as compared with the Honor 9, a Huawei-produced smartphone that is said to rival even the Apple iPhone 7.
Design and Display
As far as design goes, both the phones are comparable in size and thinness and look stunning overall. However, while the OnePlus 5 sports a matte back cover, the Honor 9 is beautiful, glossy and sleek. Both of them are beautiful phones, so it just depends on what your personal tastes are.
As far as the display is concerned, the Honor 9 has a 5.15-inch IPS LCD with 1080p quality and Gorilla Glass 3, while the OnePlus 5 has a slightly bigger 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen with a newer Gorilla Glass 5. However, both types of Gorilla Glass are strong and scratch-proof, so there’s that.
Hardware and Specs
Both smartphones run with Android Nougat out of the box, but the Honor 9 has Huawei EMUI 5.1 mainframe, while the OnePlus 5 has the OxygenOS 4.5 mainframe. The Honor 9 runs on the Huawei-produced Kirin 960 chipset, while the OnePlus 5 has the latest model of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. The Honor 9 comes in two RAM variants, the 4GB or the 6GB, while the OnePlus 5 comes in either a 6GB or an 8GB as far as RAM goes.
Both phones come with the same variants of internal storage, but the Honor 9 comes with added SD support, while the OnePlus 5 lacks that. The battery sizes are comparable as well, but the OnePlus 5 has an incontestably better camera.
