Android 7.1.2 Nougat begins to roll out on Nokia 5 devices with New Fixes and Improvements
Google has released Android 8.0 Oreo a while ago, but it will take some time until this big update will reach all users. As always, Google devices are the first ones to get the update, while others have to stick with older versions. It appears that Google is not done yet with those older versions, and a new Android version is beginning to roll out on more devices.
When it comes to Nokia products, the situation is a bit different. While there are some phones like Nokia 8 that will receive directly the Oreo update, others, like Nokia 6, received Android 7.1.2. It appears that Nokia 5 will also be one of the phones that continues to receive Nougat updates before getting Oreo. According to HDM, all Nokia Android products should receive minimum two years of OS update support
Android 7.1.2 Nougat for Nokia 5
Some Nokia 5 owners have already received the 7.1.2 Nougat update, but it is not available everywhere at the moment. Users should also know that this update will bring the October security update as well. This means that it is important to update if you want to keep your device safe from threats.
If you are planning to update your Nokia 5 you should know that this update is quite big, as it weighs in at 690.2 MB. Therefore, if you do not have enough storage you should deleted some applications that you do not use, or some videos, in order to make space for Android 7.1.2.
Improvements and fixes
The new version will come with several enhancements for fingerprint swipe performance, notifications and other features. Users will also notice Battery Usage alerts and other minor improvements such as bug fixes or stability improvements.
