The Galaxy S20 Lite could debut in October, possibly under the name of S20 Fan Edition

Prepared for some time, the Lite version of the Galaxy S20 model seems to have its official debut in October, after the premium Galaxy Note 20 model (expected in August) and the Galaxy Fold 2 model (September).

So far little is known about the successor to the S10 Lite, which debuted earlier this year. Apparently, not even the name S20 Lite is nailed down, another variant being Galaxy S20 Pen Edition, a name that would link the new smartphone to the Galaxy Note series, also implying the presence of the S-Pen accessory. Speculation also speaks of the name “S20 Fan Edition”, describing a Galaxy S20 variant with a slightly more affordable price, offered in shades of color such as Prism Blue, Prism White, Prism Violet and Prism Light Violet.

Possible Galaxy S20 Lite specifications

Without going into too much technical detail, we know that the Galaxy S20 Lite will most likely be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset and will run Android 10 with One UI 2.5 interface. At least one of the phone’s variants will have 128GB of internal storage.

Other rumors in the South Korean press describe the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition as an affordable solution and technical specifications close to the level of a top of the range. The cited sources place the official unveiling of the phone in August, but also set October for the debut in stores, Samsung wanting to deliver this model accessible according to the flagship solutions Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2.

The smartphones in the S20 family have not sold well, so the launch of a cheaper version is absolutely welcome. The new smartphone from the S20 family will be distributed under the names of SM-G780 (global version) and SM-G781 (USA) models. There will be three options. SM-G780 will be offered with and without 5G technology, and SM-G781 only with 5G.
