Xiaomi Mi TV Master: the first mini LED TVs on the market, in 4K and 8K variants

Xiaomi is not only a successful manufacturer of smartphones, despite the fact that in the last 10 years since the company existed, they have been the most successful products in its portfolio. In China, at least, Xiaomi produces many more products, including TVs. Previously, we were amazed by the first Xiaomi model with transparent OLED panel, and the company is now proving again that it is up to date with all the new technologies in the field by announcing the Xiaomi Mi TV Master TV series, the first consumer consumer equipped with a mini LED panel.

Xiaomi launches Mi Mi Master series with the first mini LED panels

Mini LED technology is the next step in the market for screens of all sizes. Instead of a screen with edge lighting or local dimming or an OLED panel, mini LED technology uses several LEDs for lighting. Thus, the resulting TVs, monitors and screens can enjoy the advantages of both technologies: high brightness, good contrast, an almost perfect black and no risk of image retention.

The new Xiaomi Mi TV Master models come in the standard version, with a 4K mini LED panel, or in the Extreme Edition version, with a mini LED panel with 8K resolution.

Both models are delivered in a single variant, with a diagonal of 82 ”, but the differences between the models and their price are completely different. Mi TV Master 4K offers 240 areas of screen illumination with 4,096 levels of intensity each and promises brightness of 1,000 nits, 140,000: 1 contrast and is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 port and a quad-core MediaTek 9650 chipset It features a 10-bit 4K panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and provides 93% of the DCI-P3 color space, offering compatibility with the Dolby Vision HDR standard.

The Mi TV Master Extreme Edition, on the other hand, with an 82 ”diagonal, comes with an 8K panel with 960 lighting zones, each with 16 individual LEDs. This model promises dual brightness, 2,000 nits, 400,000: 1 contrast, and a Novatek 72685 processor with more powerful cores: two Cortex-A73 and two A53, plus a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. This model also integrates an AI processor that can enhance images using 22 individual algorithms, as well as 5G connectivity.

And in terms of audio, this model comes with impressive equipment: 8 speakers. Two 20W speakers for bass, two for low frequencies, two for medium frequencies and two tweeters. Xiaomi seems to suggest that you don’t need a separate audio system on this model.

The price of these models is at two extremes

The truth is that after you buy this TV, there are great chances that you will no longer have money for a suitable audio system. Xiaomi Mi TV Master Extreme Edition costs 50,000 yuan, or 6,300 euros. The 4K model instead is even affordable for an 82 ”TV with the promised equipment, being announced at a price 5 times lower: 10,000 yuan, ie around 1,250 euros.
