The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR to Be Steam’s Game of the Year?

Recently, Steam has announced the winners of the 2018 Steam Awards. Users of the platform that had complete control over videogames won, there was no need for judges. The Steam Awards didn’t really nominate any titles, be them virtual reality or non-virtual reality. It was based on the votes that the games received. Of course, we’re talking about Bethesda’s game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR that was the first one in the VR category.

There weren’t any actual figures that were released. However, PC VR owners have enjoyed playing the world adventure game in VR. VRFocus even gave it five stars in a review, saying that the level of immersion is fantastic. They also said that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is exactly what people need if they want to enjoy a role-playing experience.

In the run, there were also other 4 VR titles: the social app called VRChat, the action-experience Beat Saber, shooter game SUPERHOT VR and Bethesda’s other big came, called Fallout 4 VR. By leaving aside VRChat, the other 3 are regularly awarded devotees – Beat Saber has been picked up as being the ‘Best PS VR Experience’ in 2018 and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s most downloaded game for PlayStation VR.

Beat Saber is also in the run for ‘Best VR/AR Game’ in the 19th annual Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA for short), and it’s part of the 2019 Game Developers Conference (GDC), that will take place in March.

What about the other categories?

None of them has VR games. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the top Game of the Year. Among other winners, we have Grand Theft Auto V, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Rocket League, and Assassin’s Creed Odyessy.
