How to Manually Remove Extensions and Themes from Google Chrome in 4 Steps

0

Google Chrome is one of the most widely used and appreciated web browsers in the world. And this is due to the fact that it is well built, effective and functional on top of everything. More and more people each day become Google Chrome users and remain loyal and devoted to it throughout their browsing. Needless to say, Google Chrome still has its issues, just like any other thing (especially in the tech field).

One such glitch that Google Chrome users always complain about is the inability to remove certain extensions or themes because they no longer appear in their designated menu. But yet, these extensions and themes are still active on Google Chrome. It might sound like there is no way to remove them, but there is. It’s the good old fashioned way: manually. Here are the four easy steps to get you there.

Steps

  1. Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R. Then, copy and paste the following sequence without the inverted commas before it: “%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions”. Now press ‘Enter’.
  2. The folder that opens is formed of multiple folders that represent your Chrome extensions. In order to find out which is which, simply copy the file name and paste it into Google in order to find out. The names make no sense at first sight, but do not worry about this.
  3. When you find the extension that has been bothering you, simply delete it from this folder.
  4. Relaunch Google Chrome and check your Settings menu. The deleted extensions should have disappeared by now.

And then that’s it, you’re done. The process for unwanted themes is a very similar one, so now you know how easy it is to perform these operations manually.
