Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone, ready with a faster version of the Snapdragon 865 chip

Lenovo could complete this month the Legion range of laptops for gaming and with a smartphone model. Lenovo Legion comes equipped with an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 chip and an implementation of Quick Charge technology supporting up to 90W of charging power via the USB-C cable.

Identified with the model name L79031, the Lenovo Legion smartphone already appears in the AnTuTu benchmark archive with an unusual set of specifications and significantly higher score than we would expect to see on a device based on Snapdragon 865. Of particular interest is the score with 13% higher obtained on the GPU side and the mention 144Hz below the UX score, both being the signals of an eminently gaming smartphone.

According to the information automatically collected when running the application, the test specimen could be based on Snapdragon 865 Plus, a slightly higher frequency version of the chipset found on flagship phones of the current generation. It comes with a CPU with an increased frequency of 3.09GHz on the high performance cluster, compared to 2.84GHz on the non-Plus chip.

Top-performing gaming smartphone, Lenovo Legion comes with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB NAND Flash storage UFS 3.1. The screen with FHD + resolution (2340 × 1080 pixels) supports up to 144Hz image refresh rate. The list of features is completed with a dual camera, retractable front camera positioned on the long side of the case and a version of Android 10 with an interface optimized for use in landscape mode.

Remarkably, Lenovo Legion will have two USB-C ports, allowing you to charge the battery and use an external USB-connected accessory at the same time. The phone will also have an implementation of the two-axis vibration function, implemented using two individually controlled motors.
