June Security Patch Available for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Models

0

Back in February 2016, Samsung released the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge models, which were available in stores in March. In order to keep them safe and secure, the tech giant has recently released a new security patch for the two devices. The release of the patch will be made in phases, so not all customers will receive it all at once.

What Are We Getting

So what are we getting from the latest security update? From what it seems, the latest patch will come together with various minor improvements when it comes to stability and performance. Moreover, it will fix lots of bugs you may have stumbled upon them in the past. Just as the name says, the overall security will be improved for the users who are using these devices.

How to Install It

The security patch released in June will become available for users as an OTA type of download. As such, you can get the update with a simple Wi-Fi connection or even with a mobile data if you have a good plan. The software version for Galaxy S7 wears the name G930W8VLS2BQF1, while the one for the Galaxy S7 Edge is G935W8VLS2BQF1.

If you have a look at the changelog provided for this update, you will see that there is no mention of what exactly is changing. However, this is not a new thing for the security patches, since this happens often times. And it makes perfect sense, since publishing the changes made to the system would make it vulnerable for external attacks. Even so, you only need to know that the update was rolled out to their devices.

In case you didn’t get a notification with the update, then you should manually check for it. Go to Settings/ About Device and select Software Updates.
