Identify Malware Infection Following These Steps

0

Hackers have so many resources and power nowadays that all computers and tech devices are in danger. User’s privacy is very important and many times hackers blackmail them with sensitive information, personal photos and documents. To prevent your devices from being hacked there are some steps you might want to know about.

Most PC owners use anti-virus software

Although most of us use anti-virus software and firewalls, some of these programs miss obvious malware. This is due to the fact that they were originally created or computer viruses, which make up a small percentage nowadays. Most malware is unnoticed by anti-virus software because professional malware writers create botnet ecosystems to self-update each time the user tries to delete them.

What to do to protect your computer

In order to try and do a better job at preventing your PC from being hacked it is important to install a good anti-virus program. The anti-virus should be verified suing Windows Sysinternlas Process Explorer (Autoruns) against VirusTotal’s antivirus engines (67 of them).

By using VirusTotal PC users can make sure their anti-virus software does the job. If the result is 1/57 or 2/57, then most likely the results do not point to a malware. Cases of false positive can happen. There are plenty of pictures with false positive online.

Those who are unsure can click on the reported ratio and this operation should take you to the Virus Total page and display which AV engines did and did not report the malware.

The majority of malware programs are confirmed when there is a ratio of 3 or higher. If that is the case of your computer, then the next step to take is to manually delete all files associated with the executable. The process should also be repeated with Autoruns.
