Bad News for Jailbreakers: Apple Has Stopped Signing iOS 10.3.1

0

Apple has stopped signing iOS 10.3.1 on June 27, more than a month after the stable version of iOS 10.3.2 was released.

This isn’t really surprising since Apple routinely does this when a new iOS version is rolled out. In fact, tech experts point out that the Cupertino-based tech giant had taken its time before it stopped signing iOS 10.3.1. Apple usually pulls out support for older versions one week after the release of a new iOS version; this time, it waited 43 days before pulling the plug.

Still, this extension didn’t do much for iOS users who were waiting for a jailbreaking tool for iOS 10.3.1 from hacking team Pangu. The well-respected group demoed a jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 during the Janus Mobile Security & Threat Intelligence Platform Release Event, which was held in China on the last week of April. Pangu didn’t exactly reveal when they would release the tool to the public or even confirm that they were planning to do so. However, most people in the jailbreaking community assumed that the team would make the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak available after the rollout of iOS 10.3.2’s stable version.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t what happened. The release of iOS 10.3.2 has come and gone, but there’s still no sign of Pangu’s iOS 10.3.1 jailbreaking tool. As a result, many iOS users have gone ahead and updated their devices to iOS 10.3.2.

Those who have saved their iOS 10.3.1 SHSH2 blobs before updating are safe since they can downgrade their iOS version. However, those who didn’t are basically stuck in iOS 10.3.2. This can be bad news for them if Pangu decides to roll out the iOS 10.3.1 jailbreaking tool in the next few days or weeks.

If you’re still on iOS 10.3.1, you’ll want to hold on to it for as long as you can. This way, you can immediately download any jailbreak released by Pangu and other reputable hacking groups, whether it’s for iOS 10.3.1 or later versions.
