Android Security Patch for Pixel and Nexus Comes With New Fixes

0

We’ve got the Google update for Android just in time! Recently the tech giant has uploaded the security patch both for Nexus, and for the Pixel devices. You can download the factory images, together with the OTA files, from the official website. If you’re not that rushed, you can still wait for the OTA (over-the-air) update, which is expected to arrive on the devices in a couple of days.

What Does the Security Update Bring New?

The July security update brings the files for the Android 7.1.2 OS version. It targets the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Player and 5X. For the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices (both Wi-Fi and LTE) you will also find the new 7.1.1 files.

Keep in mind that there are various builds made for Pixel and Pixel XL. As such, make sure that you are downloading the file that is addressing your specific carrier. If you are using an unlocked device, then you should download the build carrying the number NJH47D.

Sideloading Factory Images

An important thing to keep in mind is the fact that if you’re not comfortable with sideloading factory images, then it would probably be better to wait for the OTA update. Rather than breaking your device, it’s better to wait a couple days more.

Usually, for sideloading an image, you need to install a special program, called Android SDK. You will have to install it on your device. It will help you boot the device and sideload the newest security update from Google. It’s also important to choose the right version of the update for your phone, otherwise the process will fail.

All in all, everybody seems to be glad to receive the latest updates from the tech giant, whether they decide to wait for the OTA or to get it themselves.
